Suzuki Program
Music should be a fundamental component of anyone's education. We teach the Suzuki Method of music education for young children and beginners. We are certified Suzuki teachers who have over 25 years of experience in teaching young children how to play violin. The OHMA is committed to providing students of all ages quality violin instruction utilizing the Suzuki Violin Method.
Private lessons are scheduled once a week. Group lessons occur twice a month. Consultation lessons are available. The program includes four studio recitals per academic year and graduation events. Children will also learn music theory, sight reading and rhythmic training, scales, etudes and other supplementary material. We accept children 3 years and older.

Group & Ensemble
Playing in a group allows children a chance to practice team building skills, develop a sense of camaraderie and play together. This is an essential skill for a successful musician. Many string players become orchestra members. Our group program provides training for small ensemble players, youth orchestra members, section leaders and concertmasters.
Our program includes two group lessons per month for beginner, intermediate and advanced level students. We provide a unique opportunity for the youngest "Twinklers" and teens to play together in fun and inspiring special group pieces from movies and modern hits arranged especially for OHMA. Our advanced students participate in "play like a pro" series, a program that provides chamber music playing skills and training for trios and quartets playing side by side with professional musicians.
Tip: Before your first lesson, you will need to rent or purchase an appropriate size violin for the child at a violin shop or music store. Violins as small as 1/32 are available for youngest violin students. We recommend Foxes Music in Falls Church www.foxesmusic.com or Potters Violin Shop in Bethesda www.pottersviolins.com. These shops will help you to choose the correct violin size. There are also some small size violins available to rent from us directly.

Advanced Level
Let's take it to the next level! Polish your program for solo competitions and college programs. We are available to help advanced students to kick-start a new program or polish the existing repertoire to a stage ready level. 1hour or 90min sessions are available. The length will depend on the age of the student, the length of the program and the desired level of achievement.
